The future of adult imagery will likely combine all three methods. A single project may begin with a permitted photograph, use AI for selected changes, and finish with manual editing. Another may be fully synthetic from the start.

As those methods become harder to distinguish visually, the production history of an image matters more. The key question is no longer only “Is this photo real?” A better question is “How was this image made, and was everyone represented in it part of that process by choice?”
